Goodreads Goodies!

I do not know about you guys, but if I am not reading I am looking at, sniffing, researching or anything else that involves books and this includes adding large numbers of books to my to read list, so what I thought I would do is, count the number of books in my list, then randomly generate a couple of numbers, go down my list and show you what those books are and why I have them in my to read shelf.
Sounds fun?
Ok lets plough!

… goodness was trickier than I had thought…have you tried counting a list whilst scrolling?:P

I used the number generator at random.org and it came up with two numbers for me-

JANE AND THE DAMMED| JANET MULLANY

If I remember rightly, I was looking at some vampire books and looked at the other suggestion and saw this one, the cover caught my attention so had to check it out.

The “stakes” are high
and vampires rule when legendary author Jane Austen joins the ranks of
the undead in Janet Mullany’s bloody wonderful literary mash-up, Jane and the Damned. In the bestselling tradition of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies; Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters; and Mr. Darcy, Vampyre, comes a supremely smart and wickedly fun novel that renders the beloved creator of Persuasion and Emma truly immortal—as Mullany pits a transformed Jane Austen and her vampire friends against savage hordes of invading French! (goodreads)

 Sounds fun right?!!:P

FLAME IN THE MIST | RENEE AHDIEH

I have this book on my actual bookshelf as well as my virtual one, so it has progressed from being a digital TBR to a real one!
I liked Ahdieh’s other books and the synopsis appealed to me, so I bought it and am waiting to get around to it.

The only daughter of a
prominent samurai, Mariko has always known she’d been raised for one
purpose and one purpose only: to marry. Never mind her cunning, which
rivals that of her twin brother, Kenshin, or her skills as an
accomplished alchemist. Since Mariko was not born a boy, her fate was
sealed the moment she drew her first breath.

So, at just
seventeen years old, Mariko is sent to the imperial palace to meet her
betrothed, a man she did not choose, for the very first time. But the
journey is cut short when Mariko’s convoy is viciously attacked by the
Black Clan, a dangerous group of bandits who’ve been hired to kill
Mariko before she reaches the palace.

The lone survivor, Mariko
narrowly escapes to the woods, where she plots her revenge. Dressed as a
peasant boy, she sets out to infiltrate the Black Clan and hunt down
those responsible for the target on her back. Once she’s within their
ranks, though, Mariko finds for the first time she’s appreciated for her
intellect and abilities. She even finds herself falling in love—a love
that will force her to question everything she’s ever known about her
family, her purpose, and her deepest desires.(goodreads)

So there you have it, a little peak into my goodreads ‘to read’ shelf, I will continue to do this, as it was nice to take a look at what I have squirrelled away there, most of the time I just add to it and not actually take the time to see what I actually have listed.

  • Do you add to yours and never check it?
