House of Silk | Anthony Horrowitz

It is November 1890 and London is gripped by a merciless winter. Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson are enjoying tea by the fire when an agitated gentleman arrives unannounced at 221b Baker Street. He begs Holmes for help, telling the unnerving story of a scar-faced man with piercing eyes who has stalked him in recent weeks. Intrigued by the man’s tale, Holmes and Watson find themselves swiftly drawn into a series of puzzling and sinister events, stretching from the gas-lit streets of London to the teeming criminal underworld of Boston. As the pair delve deeper into the case, they stumble across a whispered phrase ‘the House of Silk’: a mysterious entity and foe more deadly than any Holmes has encountered, and a conspiracy that threatens to tear apart the very fabric of society itself.

As you may have noticed, I have had a thing for Horrowitz writing recently!

After enjoying several of his book, I thought I carry on with the trend and try this one out.

Being an avid Agatha Christie reader, I have never really taken the time to read Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes, but I like the author so, gave it a try.

This is an involved story, that is well rounded, with twists and turns and a real feel of Victorian London.

I liked the relationship the author portrayed between Dr Watson and Holmes and Jacobi ( whom is a great actor) did a grand job with the narration, he defiantly uses his theatrical talents for this

The House of Silk, we find out is …..don’t be daft, I’m not going to spoil it for you!:P

This is defiantly a good book, to get stuck into, especially if you like an immersive plot.

As I said, I have not read any original Holmes mysteries, but people who have says that this is a good attempt at bringing back the said detective.

So, what are you waiting for, give it a go!
